Lucette Kensack, Paul Bunyan's Sweetheart

    Comments:
  • Woodsman Paul Bunyan's 17-foot-tall sweetheart, Lucette Diana Kensack, was built in 1952 by Doad Schroeder from fiberglass and wood. The original statue was erected for the town in 1991, and the character was named in a contest (runner-up: Landa Happy Waters). Paul Jr. is shown here standing by his mother but was moved to stand by City Hall in 2007. They are both said to have been born in Hackensack. Located nearby is a city park, playground, picnic shelter, fishing pier, boat ramp, and a chainsaw carving of Paul.
