Riverside Plaza (Chicago)

    Comments:
  • The Riverside Plaza is an art deco skyscraper located in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The building was designed by Holabird & Roche/Holabird & Root and completed in 1929. It was known as the Chicago Daily News Building until the newspaper of the same name ceased publication in 1978. Typically, the buildings along the Chicago River were industrial in nature and butted up against the riverside, which was polluted and not considered a positive asset. This building was the first to develop the Chicago riverfront aesthetically as well as commercially. It was also the first American skyscraper with an open-air plaza as part of its design.
