Promenade du Peyrou

  • The Peyrou promenade, also known as the Place du Peyrou, is an esplanade of 4.59 ha situated west of the Ecusson district in the city of Montpellier ( Hérault ). This group, classified a historical monument, represents a conjunction of five works: the walk and its terraces allowing to contemplate the Cevennes and the Pyrenees which was arranged in 1689 , the door of Peyrou or the Arc de Triomphewith its bridge and ramps, made in 1691, the equestrian statue of Louis XIV erected in 1718, the aqueduct Saint-Clément and its reservoir built from 1753, the water tower whose project was retained in 1766 , the child and lion statues of Injalbert and the grids of entries in 1883.
